This consultation has concluded.

Thank you for your input provided between May and July 2011.  We will continue to keep you informed with new materials, events and updates on the Transportation 2040 Home Page.

Look for a Phase 2 discussion forum in early 2012.

We have now completed Phase 1 of the Transportation 2040 consultation that examined Vancouver's transportation successes and challenges to date, high-level concepts, best practices from around the world, and proposed goals and targets. During this phase, we heard from many residents, businesses, industry groups and regional commuters about values, priorities and ideas for Vancouver's transportation future. All of this input will be gathered and reported to Vancouver City Council in September 2011.

City staff are now developing a draft Transportation Plan based on the input provided to date, as well as on-going engagement with stakeholder groups.

Phase 2 consultation will begin early in 2012, and will invite discussion, debate and feedback on the draft Transportation Plan before being finalized and presented to Vancouver City Council in the summer of 2012.

We encourage all city residents, businesses, industry groups and regional commuters to contribute their ideas during the Transportation 2040 planning process. Together we can make a great city even greater.

How can we accommodate more trips without increasing road space?

With the number of people and jobs in our city growing over the next 30 years, there will be many more trips required to get where we need to go, and to deliver the goods that we rely on every day. We will need to find creative solutions to accommodate an increasing number of trips using the current road network. Share your ideas here.

With larger numbers of residents living downtown, many of the City's cycling, pedestrian and transit improvements are focused on this area. Do you have any ideas for increasing walking, cycling and transit in your neighbourhood? And how can we make cycling feel safer for everyone throughout the city, including new riders, seniors, and families with children?
