The City of Vancouver is a $1-billion-a-year enterprise. We're responsible for managing an operating budget that achieves a balance between offering essential services and programs, making smart investments in shared priorities such as affordable housing, while keeping property taxes at a reasonable rate.
We are rigorously searching for ways to conduct city business and provide services to the public in the most cost effective and affordable manner. Have your say. Tell us your priorities for a balanced operating budget in 2012. The operating budget covers all of the essential city services you encounter every day, from police and fire services to running water, waste management, parks and libraries.
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
- Read our Budget Basics Booklet to learn more about how the budget works
- Tell us your priorities for the 2012 budget using our online survey below
- Be Councillor for a day, see what it costs to run a city, build a budget
- Use the Suggestion Box below to tell us your effective cost saving solutions or comment on others'
- Come to our information session: Wed, January 25 from 7-9pm, City Hall
Your ideas and priorities will be gathered until February 10, 2012.
